Yoga Studies is a specially-designed program that will take you deeper into your own yoga practice, allow you to make meaningful connections with others, and provide you the tools and guidance to live your own life more skillfully on and off the mat. The program is divided into 6 week days a total of 60-hours: covering yoga philosophy, anatomy, alignment of poses, meditation, breath, and modifications of poses. You may complete all three parts, or sign up for only one or two weekend sessions. Since the program is designed in sequence, you must have completed each prior session to attend the next. There are Three total.
The Yoga Studies program is a required component of the full 200-hour Teacher Training program, though many students at Pulsation Yoga choose to enroll only in Yoga Studies to reap the many benefits of our in-depth curriculum. Within 18 months of completing the full Yoga Studies program, you may elect to enroll in our Teacher Training without repeating the Yoga Studies component. Teacher Training graduates become registered yoga teachers with the skills to lead their own classes.

* Philosophy overview, including Yamas and Niyamas, the Bhagavad Gita, the Chakras, and the Koshas, Doshas, and Malas. Studying non-dualistic philosophy can help you build healthy habits that garner positive changes, both mentally and physically, create a deeper connection to the self and to others.
Asana (physical) practice with a focus on form, alignment, breath, and energy. We break down poses so you can better understand how each one benefits the body, and learn the best way to get into a pose, including using modifications and variations. We also cover energy and energetic flow in the body, therapeutic yoga, standing postures and backbends, seated postures, twists, hand balances and inversions and restorative poses. These poses will be broken down for you so you can fully understand alignment and have the best results in your practice. The Universal Principles of Alignment™ will be taught in these studies.
Breathwork including Pranayama, study of energy in the body, the Bandhas and Nadis, and Meditation. The unconscious breath allows you to survive but not to thrive. Breathing affects your respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, gastrointestinal, muscular and psychic systems, has a general affect on your sleep, your memory, your energy level and your concentration. By refining and improving the quality of our breathing we can feel its positive impact on all aspects of our being.
* General anatomy of the skeleton, muscles, joints, ligaments, cartilage, and tendons. This knowledge helps you to be more aware of your body during practice so you can automatically make modifications to better get into poses.

Starts December 10 and runs through Feb 4th. Cost of program is $1250. Finishing this portion you are eligible to pick up where you left off to complete the entire 200 hour training. (this is actually the first part of that training)
Pulsation Yoga co-owner Kathy Simonik is a certified Anusara Instructor and E-RYT 500. She has been teaching for 11 years and a student of yoga for 12 years. Kathy studied with Anusara founder John Friend, and completed his level 1 and level 2 teacher trainings, three Yoga Therapeutic trainings, and Anusara Master Immersion. In all, Kathy has completed more than 2,000 hours in Anusara studies with John Friend and other certified Anusara instructors. Her studies have garnered extensive knowledge in alignment therapeutics. Kathy assisted with five teacher trainings prior to conducting the 200 RYT Teacher Training at Pulsation Yoga.
Pulsation Yoga co-owner Jim Simonik is an Anusara Inspired Yoga Instructor and RYT 200. He has been teaching for 9 years, and studied with John Friend, Noah Mazé, Amy Ippolitti, Sianna Sherman, Desiree Rumbaugh, Betsey Downing, and Ross Rayburn. Jim brings his experience and strong athletic practice to the training, and he follows a teaching style that blends an in-depth knowledge of yoga with a powerful and playful practice.
